Charles was born in Scottsdale, AZ where he developed a love of the arts at a very early age.
He excelled in art classes in primary school and high school. He was also versed in the performing arts as well and was tapped to be the lead role in Bye Bye Birdie as Conrad Birdie.
Charles studied jewelry design and lost wax casting method. He also excelled in Japanese Block Printing while in the U.S. Navy.
Charles was accepted to the College of Architecture at the University of Arizona. Charles graduated and while in attendance he was an exchange student at La Universidad de La Salle in Mexico City.
Charles moved to Houston, Texas where he worked for the Klein Partnership and also worked for a foremost architectural illustrator Pat Lopez, who produced work while Charles was there for world renowned architect Phillip Johnson and the firm of Skidmore, Owings and Merrill.
